The Situation

The owner had been working with a business coach for several months and was making real operational progress. The problem was that the financial reporting could not confirm it. Revenue streams were commingled, COGS had no consistent structure, and the chart of accounts had never been aligned to SLI standards. When the coach asked for a benchmarkable P&L, there was nothing to show.

What We Did

AdminWorks was engaged for a chart of accounts restructuring and GL mapping project. We rebuilt the QuickBooks environment to SLI standards, separating managed services, cloud resale, and professional services revenue with properly paired COGS accounts. Every historical transaction that could be reclassified was mapped to the new structure. The first benchmarkable P&L was delivered within 60 days. The owner later converted to full ongoing bookkeeping services with AdminWorks.

The Situation

The owner was managing the books personally, spending 8 to 10 hours per week on bookkeeping, invoicing, and vendor management. The company was running Autotask for service delivery but invoicing was being handled manually outside the PSA. Procurement costs were inconsistently recorded, AP had no structure, and payroll was being processed without proper allocation to cost of goods. The owner knew the books were not right but did not have the bandwidth to fix them.

What We Did

AdminWorks took over the full back office. We established invoicing directly through Autotask, eliminating the manual process and ensuring billing accuracy tied to time entries and agreements. Procurement and AP were structured and reconciled. Payroll was realigned with proper COGS allocation by role. The chart of accounts was rebuilt to SLI standards throughout. Within 90 days the owner had recovered those 8 to 10 hours per week and had, for the first time, a P&L that reflected how the business actually performed.
